Musical Theater Class in Port Orange
A beginner-friendly musical theater experience for kids—featuring an original mini-musical!
If your child loves to sing, dance, act, or simply express themselves, our Musical Theater class at the Port Orange REC Center is the perfect place to shine. This 10-week program is designed for beginners and kids with experience who want a fun, encouraging creative outlet.
What Kids Experience
In our updated Musical Theater class, children dive into the world of storytelling, song, and movement through a fun, interactive mini-musical centered around a birthday party skit!
Across 10 weeks, your child will:

Learn foundational theater skills - acting, voice, and movement in a hands-on, playful environment

Explore group collaboration - working in small groups to develop character, dialogue, and staging

Grow social and communication skills - through ensemble work and peer support

Tap into creativity and confidence - improvising scenes, singing together, and sharing ideas

Build musical awareness - warming up with vocal exercises, sing with friends, and using rhythm

Prepare for a final showcase - presenting their mini-musical in front of friends and family!
This experience helps kids build performance skills and grow in confidence, expression, teamwork, and imagination—whether they dream of the big stage someday or simply want a fun introduction to singing, dancing, and acting.

Here’s what parents and participants can look forward to each week:

Structured 50-minute classes - combining theater games, skit rehearsals, singing, and movement

Focused warm-ups - voice and vocal exercises

Acting & improvisation - activities to build character development and storytelling skills

Group rehearsals of the musical skit - with roles, staging, singing, and light choreography

Collaborative, confidence-building setting - small class size ensures personal attention with up to 20 students

Final performance showcase - a lively, short musical skit where kids get to shine and celebrate together
This isn’t a full-scale production—it's a fun, low-pressure, confidence-building introduction to musical theater where kids can explore creativity, build skills, and make new friends. You’ll be amazed at how much they grow in just a few weeks!

This 10-week class series will be billed in three payments of $133.35. Class tuition includes:

10 classes of group instruction with the last class being a dress rehearsal/performance

Materials for class instruction

End-of-class performance for family and friends
All registrations are final. No refunds will be offered nor processed. Please ensure your commitment to this 10-week class series before completing the registration. If you have any questions please CLICK HERE. Upon registration you agree to the future payment of $133.35 on 3/1, and 4/1 for 2026 Spring Sessions. If payment is not made within 5 days of the above dates, a $30 late fee will be added to that payment amount.

What Kids Experience
Beachside Music Lessons & Therapy offers an interactive and creative environment for kids to learn and practice acting, singing, and dancing in this 10 week class! Our goal is to introduce kids to the fundamentals of theatre and acting through fun-filled classes, while encouraging: social skills, collaboration, and creativity. The lessons taught go beyond the theatre and will have a positive impact on whatever our young students choose to do in their lives.

Our Small Group Classes ensure your child gets the one-on-one attention they need in addition to the space to work through new skills and songs. It's the perfect combination in learning a new instrument. Music is always more fun when you play it with friends!
Our Small Music Therapy Groups offer students an opportunity to explore music making, learn new skills, increase social skills, speech, gross and fine motor skills, academics, and more. How It Works
Sign-up
Sign-up for our Musical Theater Class and vote for your favorite musical theatre songs/shows! Our class will meet weekly (50 minutes per week for 10 weeks, including the performance on the final week). Class will be designed to meet the individual needs of those attending each group.
