Have you ever seen anyone frowning while holding an ukulele?

Absolutely not! It's like trying to be sad while water skiing. It just can't be done. The truth is, that just the sound of this beautiful instrument has been giving people that warm and happy feeling for over eighty years in the mainland U.S. and now you can take that feeling with you everywhere you go!

While normally we teach beginning ukulele classes, our next Sip & Strum Class will be for intermediate players.  This ukulele 2.0 class will be a three week course in which we will go beyond the basics by learning new chords, songs with a bit more difficulty and different strumming patterns.  We will likely play a few familiar songs with a twist of challenge, adding new chords with strumming patterns, in addition to new songs requested by class.  We will play in other keys, as well.  Ukulele songs often requested in our class are classics like "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland, "Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffet, and "I'm Yours" by the Jason Mraz.  Of course you may learn some not-so-classic ukulele songs like "Leaving On A Jet Plane" by John Denver and "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding too.  Each class is uniquely designed and taught based on the experience and preferences of each class, so don't forget to vote for your favorite songs when you sign up!

Class Requirements

Please know the following basics to attend this intermediate class:

- Have a basic understanding how to tune your ukulele

- Be able to play C, Am, F, G, and Em

Or

- Have attended one of our classes

You do not need to know how to play different strumming patterns, any particular songs, or any chords not listed.  We will provide a quick review of the basics at the beginning of class and will help refresh your memory if it's  been a while since you've played.

Not ready to join this class but would like to attend a beginning class in the future?

No problem! Absolutely no ukulele or music experience is required to attend our beginning classes.  Most students who attend our classes have little or no music background and have never played the ukulele!

More About Our Host:

Two guys who love to laugh and get a little weird, Robbie and Andy met in 2011 and quickly realized a mutual passion for beer, food, fun, and friendship. What began as a weekend hobby for the two grew quickly with medals won and friends clamoring to try their brews, and before long the seeds of Persimmon Hollow Brewing had been sown.

Those seeds grew, and their dream became a reality in 2014 with the opening of the original brewery and taproom in DeLand, FL.

Persimmon Hollow Brewing became a place to gather for fun, a place to escape the pressures of life, a place for all people to feel welcomed, and a place to gather to give back to the community through educational and environmental causes. Persimmon Hollow’s beer quickly found its way into taps and store shelves, and today can be found throughout Florida.

Since the founding, Robbie and Andy’s passion to share Persimmon Hollow’s sense of fun,  community, and purpose has driven them to open a growing network of neighborhood brewpubs, each with its own identity, but each uniquely Persimmon Hollow Brewing. Every pint or plate that is shared and the smiles and laughter that accompany them are the fabric of the company motto, “Drink Sensibly, But Get Weird”.

More information about the menu, specials, tastings, and more is available on their Facebook.

Cheers Y’all!
